R v Anglesea

R v Anglesea

Gordon Anglesea was an ex-North Wales Chief Superintendent who successfully sued Private Eye and other media organisations for naming him as a paedophile.

Allegations against him have been made for years, with few witnesses being qualified or willing to give evidence. Eleanor Laws KC was Lead Counsel prosecuting him for serious sexual offences upon two boys, one he was introduced to by well known paedophile: John Allen. Substantial legal arguments throughout the trial relating to delay, quality of evidence and the fact that one abandoned witness had made allegations against a high profile ex MP who has been considered for charge.
