Marcus Reedman Case

Marcus Reedman Case

Eleanor Laws KC
Retired colonel accused of fraudulently claiming £43,470 to fund his children's private education.

Eleanor Laws KC instructed by Bob Scott, Richard Griffiths and Co. Solicitors

Marcus Reedman, a retired Colonel who had in turn served as Commanding Officer of the Royal Gurkha Regiment, Head of the National Security Council Secretariat and Deputy Director of the Government’s Covid-19 task force, was charged with Fraud Act Offences against the Ministry of Defence.

It was alleged that he had dishonestly failed to disclose information that affected his entitlement to a military allowance used to pay for his children’s school fees.  The case turned on the interpretation of Army regulations relating to the payment of allowances.

He was found not guilty after a four week trial.
